Snake Shed Pendant Necklace

A black rat snake resides in my yard and leaves me about 3 skin sheds a summer right in my landscaping. I think she knows I'm going to make it into something beautiful to honor her. I collect the sheds with care and cut circular pieces with tiny scissors, back them with shiny gold paper and seal them into a 1" round silver bezel pendant with clear epoxy and cover with clear domes to cure. 

Snakes shedding their skins represents transmutation, our ability to shed what does not serve us as we become more and more ourselves. Though the result may be beneficial, the process can be painful. If you know someone who is going through a transition, this would make a thoughtful gift. 

The metallic backing enhances the color and adds a bit of luminescence to show off the beautiful pattern of the shed. Pendants hang on thin silver chains of 18" long with lobster clasp closures.
